WHY 'WIJN'
Wijn is pronounced "vine" and is the Dutch word for wine. Pella has a rich Dutch tradition that is obvious in the town's tulip-lined streets, building architecture and themed stores and restaurants. Calling this wine and tasting spot The Wijn House honors the rich Dutch heritage that can be seen throughout Pella.
WHO WE ARE
We are Richard and Rene' White and we recently purchased the Wijn House from Tara and Jeremy Kohlhaas. The Wijn House has been a fixture in historic downtown Pella since it opened in the Fall of 2016. We are excited to continue what Tara and Jeremy started by sharing Iowa wines and having a place for locals and visitors to gather.

Kristen has been a part of the Wijn House family for 6 years. After living on both the West and East coasts, Kristen wanted to bring her family to the Midwest (she lived near Sioux City when she was younger), and they moved to Pella 8 1/2 years ago.
Kristen enjoys leading a monthly Bunco group, reading and participating in a book club, yoga, and painting. She is active in her local homeschool group and church and volunteers in various areas for both. As a stay-at-home mom of older kids, Kristen loves working part-time at the Wijn House. She finds it a great opportunity to be involved in the Pella community, connecting with locals and tourists alike, as well as all the happenings in the Iowa wine industry! |
