Exciting news to share!

We are excited to share that Rene' has been accepted into the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program in Iowa!

It is both exciting, and a little intimidating. After too many years to count in the corporate world and two and a half years of owning The Wijn House, Rene' has learned A LOT by doing—figuring things out as she goes, making plenty of mistakes, trying to remember to celebrate the wins, and occasionally wondering what the heck she was thinking. 

Now she gets the opportunity to step back from the day-to-day and really dig into business strategy, financial management, leadership and growth, while learning alongside other Iowa small business owners.

She is looking forward to bringing some of what she learns back to The Wijn House as we continue to grow, create new experiences, and do our part to promote Iowa wine and the people behind it.  There is one potential downside… you may see a little less of Rene’ at the bar and a little more of Rene’ sitting behind a computer. 💻😳 Apparently, spreadsheets and strategy are part of the deal. Who knew?

Don’t worry, I’m sure wine will somehow be incorporated into the learning process. 🍷😉
